Vehicle assessment: Body and exterior.

3/12/2024

The body on this example is in need of some fabrication and paint work.
The door skins will need some fabrication work to remove the corrosion and to give the doors the original strength.
The sills are also another area of interest, some arras have been cut away to remove corrosion and the ,metal has not been replaced leaving open holes in the structure.
The car has arrived to us with a large amount of replacement body and chassis parts inside. This seems like a majority of the area that need fabrication attention.

It appears that the car has all of the original chrome trim parts in varying conditions.
All lights and lenses are present with no cracks or major damage to the units, I was unable to test the lights at this time do to the battery being discharged.

The paint on the car is dull, scratched and showing signs of rust bubbling from underneath, this will need to be inspected further to ensure the rust does not continue to take hold.

Vehicle assessment: Interior

The interior on this car is quite complete, all door cards and panels are present with a full arrangement of gauges in the dashboard. At the moment these are all untested due to the battery being discharged and the engine not being started.

There are some tears and damage to the headliner as well as what appears to be some mould too. There is a larger rip in the fabric above the passenger side rear door.

The Drivers rear door card has substantial damage and it is separating from the door at the top of the card

Chrome removal PT 2

The next items to be removed are the window frames & apertures. This required stripping & removal of all interior door card components. This included the window glass & regulator. At the rear of the vehicle, the door window external chrome trim & seal have been previously fixed with adhesive with all screws & clips missing. Throughout removal of the rear apeture several bolts were excessively seized & corroded sheering on removal. These snapped studs have since been drilled & awaiting re tapping. The windo frames were seperated, glas removed & re assembled. The majority of all chrome removed from the vehicle is in a fairly poor state with heavy pitting, corrosion & distortion throughout. the bonnet chrome's were next, the front trim was first removed with one clip sheering. This will need to be replaced along with several others on reassembly. The jaguar was then removed from the bonnet followed by the rear strip & left & right strips. The majority of nuts for this central strip will need replacing along with the clips. The left & right bonnet side trims have suffered from some distortion & damage to the corroded retaing pins. From here the front door chrome will be stripped along with the front grille & head lamp bezels

This morning i have completed the strip of the required panels that will be needing fabrication work by removing the paint using 40 grit.

Again, I have found some previous filler work present that has been used to fill some dents and also some work that will be requiring fabrication work
