In the world of high-performance sports and classic cars, the BMW E46 M3 GTR Strassenversion stands as a true unicorn, a rarity that automotive enthusiasts dream of owning. This road-legal version of the iconic BMW E46 M3 GTR race car has left an indelible mark in automotive history with its impressive statistics, exclusive status, and undeniable value that would (if you could get hold of one) make it the ultimate club sport car.

The Unicorn's Birth:

The BMW E46 M3 GTR Strassenversion, born from the racing success of its sibling, the M3 GTR, is a limited-production marvel. It was developed to meet homologation requirements for the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) racing series, where the M3 GTR achieved notable victories in the early2000s. BMW knew they had something special with the race car, and a road-legal version was mandatory, but they have never been in a rish to sell any.

Exclusivity and Rarity:

The Strassenversion's rarity cements its status as one of the worlds true unicorns. Its so rare that most car enthusiasts haven’t even heard of the Strasseversion (Street version). Only 10 units were ever planned ,making it one of the most exclusive BMWs ever created. Rumours are that only six went into production and only three were finished and they remain in theownership of BMW. If you want one, you cant have one. So today this is a car that money simply can’t buy, a unique piece of automotive history that continues to be shrouded in mystery. It’s a true Unicorn!

The Ultimate Club Sport Car:

We know that there are hundreds of e46 M3 club sport cars doing trackdays, built after hours by enthusiast's throughout the country. There are also a large number of GTR (evocations) doing the rounds at race events so the e46 M3 relationship with the track is a well-trodden path. Its not a great leap then to imagine that a club sport makeover of a strasseversion GTR would be the ultimate. At home on the track and a real showstopper at an event. The problem is you can’t buy one…….. so we’ll just have to build one. Here comes our Vereinssport (Clubsport) GTR........

 We are going to build an amazing club sport Restomod with a nod of appreciation to the GTR strasseversion. This car will demonstrate the balance between track capable car and a showstopper event car. The best bit you can buy one.

Our starting point

 We have purchased a rough n ready club sport-built car and we’ve had some fun chucking it around a track and tidying it up a little so it can wear our logo. There's nothing special about this donor car, but that is the point, take the everyday and develop it into something unique, something bespoke, something RARA (rare).

The design

The design brief is clear, create an M3 that will dive to the track, perform flawlessly on a track day and then take centre stage at cars & coffee or car show event having comfortably transported its passengers for an hour on UK B roads.
